AI Slop is the new Stock Image

Both are equally LAZY
Welcome to a post NOT written by AI - can you tell?
What is AI slop?
It's the captions that don't even sound like a human - let alone your brand. Generic promotional images that all look exactly the same. Your logo isn't even your logo anymore. It's the font chatGPT uses for every.single.design. It's the illustration style you see on every second Facebook post. It's the stuff the old tannies are so proud of themselves for making after uploading a photo of their dog and turning it into a hybrid of their grandchild. And you're posting that same slop to your business accounts?

Why people have reverted to using AI slop
How did we get here? Simple: laziness rebranded as "efficiency." People love a shortcut. So, instead of doing the actual, hard work of building a brand, business owners fell for the gimmick: "Oooh so exciting, look at me I know how to use AI to create a social media post that will take 3 business days to read". They believe they are now equipped to run their own social media with hyper generic captions and the over-use of emojis no one really ever uses. Because "it's so easy and quick now" right?

Why it won't work
People think using an AI generated caricature of themselves depicted at their job will connect with their audience - it won't. All the people that also use AI to generate slop will like your post. In a professional industry? You've just proven you're unprofessional.
Using AI to generate these images is just as lazy as using a stock image - you're still not showing up for your audience. We're still not building a connection with you - and it's DEFINITELY not helping us to trust and respect you... you can't even respect us enough to make your captions SOUND like you?
Reality check
Using AI to cut corners on your content highlights a much bigger misunderstanding of what social media marketing actually does.
Let's bring back supporting actual photographers, graphic designers, and copywriters. Because these are jobs you can't do, and AI sure as hell shouldn't. Your audience deserves better, and so does your business.
Sincerely, Someone who is so tired of AI Slop Yes there are em-dashes in this post. That's how I write and AI will not take that from me.
